American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Chesapeake, VA, requiring VA or Compact licensure and Epic proficiency.

13-week contract in a hospital ICU setting
-
Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) or 4x12-hour shifts available
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday coverage required within the contract period

Patient ratio of 1:2–3

Patient population includes neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath cases

Required skills include post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, stroke care, mechanical ventilation, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia/emergency management

Floating required to Stepdown Unit; may also float to ED/MedSurg to care for ICU patients being held in those areas

Epic EMR — proficiency required, no exceptions

Active VA or Compact RN license currently in hand — no exceptions

Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required

Strong neuro experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD, and stroke

Critical care experience preferred (3 years); strong candidates with less experience will be considered

Travel nursing experience preferred

Epic EMR proficiency required

Clean license and background required — no prior hits will be considered

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a Driver's License must be provided for address verification prior to any offer acceptance

Two professional references required for consideration

A copy of Driver's License and Social Security Card are required for consideration

Position is located in Chesapeake, VA — part of the 'Coastal Virginia' area, minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk

Strong neuro experience is a primary requirement and heavily weighted in candidate selection
