CNC Lathe Machinist – Fanuc / Okuma | $30–$38/hr

Position Summary
A growing precision manufacturing company in Newark, CA is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join its production team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC lathe setup, operation, program editing, tool offsets, blueprint reading, and precision measurement. Experience with Fanuc or Okuma controls is required. Aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes independently with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Edit CNC programs and make tool offset and wear compensation adjustments.
- Set tooling, work offsets, feeds, and speeds.
- Inspect machined components using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges.
- Perform in-process inspections and maintain required quality documentation.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
- Optimize machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cycle times.
- Maintain accurate job travelers and inspection records.
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams.
- Support CNC milling and other machining operations when needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably CNC lathe.
- Strong CNC lathe setup experience.
- Experience with Fanuc OR Okuma CNC controls.
- Experience with CNC program editing, offsets, and wear compensation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience machining tight-tolerance / precision components.
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a production environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work on ITAR-controlled projects as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Fanuc and Okuma controls.
- CNC programming from scratch.
- Multi-axis CNC lathe experience.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- AS9100 or ISO 9001 experience.
- First Article Inspection (FAI) experience.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or Inconel.
- CNC milling experience.
- Low-to-medium volume / high-mix production experience.
- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as Epicor or Shopkeeper.
