Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As Transportation Manager, you will:
- Lead, coach, and develop the Transportation Supervisors and transportation team.
- Oversee the daily operation of our transportation department to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service.
- Lead a transportation workforce operating under a collective bargaining agreement and work collaboratively with union leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, WA DOSH/OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Oversee accident investigations, corrective actions, and safety initiatives.
- Maintain a safe and compliant commercial vehicle fleet.
- Optimize routing, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization to improve operational efficiency and control costs.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
- Respond to operational issues, customer concerns, and after-hours transportation emergencies as needed.
- Hire, onboard, train, coach, performance manage, and development drivers and supervisors.
- Foster strong communication between transportation, operations, maintenance, customer service, and executive leadership.
- Maintain a professional, positive culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and transportation leadership experience.
- Current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required.
- At least five years of progressive transportation leadership experience required.
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and commercial fleet operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to analyze operational data and make sound business decisions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain insurability under HCSA's fleet insurance requirements.
- Ability to pass background check and drug-screening.
Physical Requirements
This position includes both office and field responsibilities. The Transportation Manager must be able to:
- Walk, stand, and inspect transportation operations for extended periods.
- Occasionally perform delivery driver duties when operationally necessary.
- Push and pull linen carts requiring up to approximately 30 pounds of force.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in warehouse, production, loading dock, and outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
Working Conditions
This position operates in both office and field environments, including warehouses, loading docks, hospitals, and outdoor locations during all weather conditions. The Transportation Manager must be comfortable responding to operational issues, supporting drivers in the field, and maintaining a visible leadership presence throughout the shift.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
