The Senior Robotic Weld Programmer & Technician is a hands‑on, highly skilled role focused on programming, optimizing, and supporting robotic welding automation in a manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for an experienced welder or robotic programmer who enjoys solving problems on the shop floor, improving processes, and seeing their work directly impact production every day.
Responsibilities
- Program, prove out, and support first‑article weldments using ABB robotic welding controllers.
- Set up, adjust, and optimize robotic MIG welding processes to meet quality standards and production goals.
- Perform welds according to approved procedures while maintaining consistent cycle times.
- Inspect welds visually to ensure 100% compliance with blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering requirements.
- Improve weld paths, fixturing interactions, and parameters to produce repeatable, high‑quality results—especially on heavy‑duty parts.
- Troubleshoot robotic cells and automation issues directly on the production floor.
- Work closely with operators and production teammates to share knowledge and improve day‑to‑day robot operation.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs on robotic welding equipment.
- Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and equipment vendors as needed to support ongoing automation projects.
- Assist with additional fabrication, automation, or improvement tasks as business needs require.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands‑on robotic welding experience (ABB experience strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to program, adjust, and troubleshoot robotic welding systems.
- Solid background in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and weld symbols.
- Comfortable building a robotic weld path from scratch when given a new fixture or part.
- Experience with other robot brands or offline programming software is a plus, but not required.
- A problem‑solver who looks for better, safer, and more efficient ways to weld.
- Able to pass an internal weld and inspection qualification.
- Dependable, safety‑minded, and respectful—someone who takes pride in their work and supports their teammates.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment with welding equipment, automation, heat, noise, and industrial materials.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform frequent bending, lifting, and twisting.
- Use of required PPE at all times.
Hours of Work
Monday - Thursday 6am to 4pm
