Fixture Designer

Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled Fixture Designer to join our team. In this role you will design, develop, and document workholding fixtures with an emphasis on aerospace applications. You will collaborate closely with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to create solutions that improve accuracy, repeatability, and throughput on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Design machining fixtures CAD software
- Review part drawings and process plans to define fixturing requirements
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for fixture fabrication
- Collaborate with machinists to validate designs at the machine and adjust as necessary
- Perform design verification and revisions based on dimensional inspection results
- Maintain fixture documentation, revision history
- Identify opportunities to reduce setup time and improve fixture repeatability
- Support the programming team
- Ensure designs comply with safety standards and ergonomic best practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fixture design or a closely related machining role
- Hands-on background in CNC or manual machining — direct understanding of what happens at the machine
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, OnShape, or equivalent)
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and material behavior
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally on the shop floor
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Technology, or related field — or equivalent trade experience
- Experience with 4- or 5-axis fixturing strategies
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Experience with modular fixturing systems (Jergens, Carr Lane, Mitee-Bite, or similar)

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
