Role Description The Marine Construction Foreman is a full-time, on-site and hands-on role based in Shellman Bluff, GA, overseeing day-to-day field operations on marine and waterfront construction projects. This role is responsible for leading crews, assigning tasks, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to plans and specifications. Daily activities include coordinating carpentry and structural work, supervising heavy equipment operations, monitoring material usage, and enforcing quality standards. The Foreman will interpret drawings and civil engineering details and maintain accurate records of progress, labor, and equipment. This role also involves conducting safety meetings, troubleshooting field issues, and mentoring crew members to strengthen skills and performance on the job.
Qualifications
- Strong carpentry skills related to marine and structural construction, including piling, piers, docks, and other waterfront structures.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment used in marine or civil construction (e.g., excavators, cranes, pile drivers) and safe operating practices.
- Working knowledge of civil engineering concepts and construction drawings, with the ability to interpret plans, elevations, and specifications in the field.
- Demonstrated quality control skills, including inspection of work, adherence to codes and standards, and documentation of any corrective actions.
- Clear and professional communication skills for leading crews, coordinating with project managers, and interacting with clients and inspectors.
- Minimum of 2 years proven experience in a foreman or lead role within marine, heavy, or civil construction environments.
- Commitment to safety, including familiarity with OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks required on active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to travel for projects within the state of Georgia.
