Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Data Cable Technician to join our team and drive the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex telecommunications and networking systems. Duties
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring to support telecommunications and data networks.
- Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to ensure optimal data transmission quality.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and telecommunications testing equipment to identify faults quickly.
- Conduct network wiring installations for LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Avaya communication systems.
- Set up and configure telecommunication systems including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), radio frequency (RF) testing, and telephony equipment for reliable communication channels.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to install cable trays, conduits, racks, and other hardware components in various environments.
- Read schematics, technical diagrams, and network drawings to accurately execute installation plans aligned with industry standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting on telecommunication infrastructure to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with clients to assess site requirements, provide technical guidance on cabling solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service delivery.
Experience
- Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunications or network infrastructure installation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet wiring standards (Cat5/Cat6), LAN/WAN configurations, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Avaya systems.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic system setup for high-speed data transmission.
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation for structured cabling projects and telecommunication system layouts.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, cable testers, RF testers, and other telecommunications testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to low-voltage electrical wiring, equipment malfunctioning, or network connectivity problems efficiently.
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems relevant to telecommunications infrastructure is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on clear communication and professional interaction with clients at all levels.
