This is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting all costs associated with manufacturing products, including standard costing, forecasting, and profitability analysis. The position does not currently have direct reports.
Responsibilities
-
Drive the annual product costing roll and cost new products, including rate development
-
Classify direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, period expenses, and capital expenditures in accordance with company policy and GAAP
-
Analyze manufacturing cost variances and drive data-driven improvements
-
Evaluate raw material and supply costs, and build cost-benefit analyses for vendor changes where advantageous
-
Own quarterly plant cost estimates based on the production plan, communicating risks, opportunities, and detailed variance explanations on a timely basis

Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost, inventory, and liabilities

Deliver accurate inventory and gross margin schedules to management on schedule

Maintain internal documentation controls for inventory and cost of goods sold

Support month-end close, prepare journal entries, and analyze inventory valuation and inventory roll forward

Prepare and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly gross margin analysis by brand and by customer type

Support internal reporting requirements including audit and tax schedules

Track and influence performance across cost, fulfillment, quality, and cash within the supply chain and company-wide

Partner with the Production Manager on operational decision-making and key performance indicators to identify issues and develop solutions

Engage cross-functionally to determine process implementation and improvements
Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience

Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Demonstrated expertise in standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, and month-end close

Strong cost systems background and a sound understanding of cost accounting principles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and follow-through

Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP systems

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex analysis simply

Proven success working as a member of a high-performance team

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

CMA or CPA
