Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as an OTR CDL A Flatbed Driver and take charge of delivering freight across long distances with energy and precision! In this role, you will operate flatbed trucks equipped for over-the-road routes, ensuring timely and safe deliveries of various cargo including freight, equipment, and specialized loads. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load, secure, and unload freight on flatbed trailers, ensuring proper cargo handling and compliance with safety protocols.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes, manage delivery schedules, and ensure timely arrivals at multiple destinations.
- Transport a variety of cargo including freight, hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, and specialized equipment such as tanker or roll-off trucks.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips; report any mechanical issues promptly to maintenance teams.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status, route changes, or unforeseen delays.
Skills
- Proven experience operating flatbed trucks or tractor-trailers on long-distance routes with a strong understanding of route planning and logistics cargo handling.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and experience transporting dangerous goods safely.
- Skilled in manual handling techniques for loading/unloading freight; familiarity with forklift operation is a plus.
- Ability to drive manual transmission trucks confidently while maintaining safety standards.
- Strong understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations related to commercial driving and truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean record; experience with refrigerated trailers or tanker trucks is desirable.
- Capable of managing multiple deliveries efficiently while maintaining high safety standards on the road.
