Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other health conditions. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking while adhering to dietary restrictions and care plans
- Support residents during medication administration and ensure proper documentation of all care activities
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote mental stimulation and socialization
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring adherence to safety protocols in compliance with health standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet each resident’s specific needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care practices, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care are a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for patient transfer using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills to effectively monitor patient status and collaborate with team members
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and understanding when caring for individuals with complex needs
- Experience in medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and creating or following care plans is desirable
- Must be dependable with a commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered care in a respectful manner
