Job Overview
Tender Care is seeking an experienced and dependable male Direct Support Professional (DSP) for In-Home Services located in Newark, NJ. In this role, you will provide exceptional one-on-one assistance to your client in the comfort of their own home while ensuring their safety and well-being to promote a vibrant quality of life.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Only male applicants will be considered for this role.
- Minimum of three years direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Valid State of New Jersey driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism (In-home, Live-in, hospice care, or long-term care settings is highly preferred)
- Experience with meal preparation, cleaning routines, medication management, and documentation within healthcare or caregiving environments.
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with residents while maintaining patience and empathy.
- Knowledge of seizure protocol highly preferred.
- Able to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to assist with physical tasks, including positioning and transferring individuals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide one to one direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism or behavioral disorders while assisting them with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Assist with medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans tailored to each resident's needs.
- Participate with individuals in community, social, and recreational activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the living environment, ensuring it is safe and welcoming for all residents.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, helping them navigate challenges while celebrating their achievements.
