About the Role
Languages Unlimited, LLC is seeking a professional and highly reliable Personal Assistance Services (PAS) Provider to support a federal employee who is legally blind. This role provides non-medical, employee-directed support that enables the employee to perform essential job duties, safely navigate the work environment, and fully participate in meetings, trainings, and official events. All duties align with the Rehabilitation Act (Section 501) and federal PAS regulations.
This is a hands-on, on-site role in Denver, CO, with partial telework support when the employee teleworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Reading & Information Access
- Read aloud printed, handwritten, or inaccessible electronic materials as needed.
- Assist in identifying, organizing, and retrieving electronic and physical files.
- Support access to electronic documents when built-in accessibility tools are insufficient.
- Conduct minor research tasks when online platforms are not screen-reader friendly.
Navigation Assistance
- Guide the employee between offices, meeting rooms, and other workplace areas.
- Provide orientation support in new or unfamiliar work environments, including during official travel.
Meeting Support
- Verbally describe visual materials such as graphs, charts, and presentation slides.
- Assist with notetaking or organizing meeting materials upon request.
Administrative Support (Non-Job Function Related but Allowed)
- Help complete timekeeping and personnel documents that are not accessible.
- Support light clerical tasks such as document preparation and filing.
Professional and Compliance Responsibilities
- Follow employee direction regarding required support.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
- Adhere to federal policies and safety protocols.
- Report monthly hours and any incidents, as required by federal contract standards.
What This Role Does Not Include
- Medical care of any kind
- Financial management
- Any personal activities not related to job performance
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Approximately 4 hours per day, Monday–Friday (flexible within the employee’s tour of duty).
- Some days may require slightly adjusted hours depending on need.
Required Qualifications
- Experience or strong familiarity with providing support to individuals with disabilities, especially vision impairments.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to provide clear descriptions of visual information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Intermediate computer proficiency using Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to pass all required federal background checks.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing PAS or similar support in a professional or government environment.
- Training or exposure to accessibility tools (screen readers, document formatting, etc.).
- Comfort navigating large facilities and assisting in varied work settings.
