JOB
General Summary: The Heavy Equipment Operator 2 works at BREC parks and facilities operating light to heavy equipment and tools, hauling various materials used to build playgrounds, parking lots, roads, etc. Uses heavy equipment to dig ditches and trenches for adequate drainage of park systems. Individual has knowledge of general construction duties.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification(s) Required: N/A
License(s) Required: Valid LA Class A CDL with air breaks
Years of Relevant Work Experience Required: Three (3) years operator experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:-
Knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing specialized maintenance and construction equipment

Mechanical aptitude is required.

Skill in the operation of light to heavy equipment

Must have an excellent driving record

Good work and attendance records.

Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize jobs to minimize travel time with equipment.

Ability to operate and safely load/unload medium to heavy equipment.

Ability to drive a BREC Vehicle to perform essential functions of the job

Ability to work outside in various climates

Ability to work independently.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Days/Hours Worked: Generally, four (4) days per week – Monday through Thursday, ten (10) hours per day- 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Seldom required, but occasional weekend work possible.
