Job Summary:
We are a geotechnical, construction materials and environmental consulting firm in northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. We have been in business for over 70 years and work on a variety of commercial, residential and municipal projects.
We have offices in Carol Stream, Shorewood, Dekalb, Rockford and Gurnee Illinois performing testing in Northern Illinois, NW Indiana, Southern Wisconsin and Eastern Iowa. We are an employee owned corporation through a combination of individual ownership and an employee stock ownership program. Only active TSC employees own a portion of the company.
We are currently seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to work in our geotechnical department at our Carol Stream, Illinois office. Ideal candidates will bring a Professional Engineer License (P.E), strong report writing and reviewing experience, project oversight capabilities, and a solid geotechnical background.
Geotechnical engineers typical duties include:
1) Preparing proposals, budgets and scopes for future projects
2) Managing new projects from beginning to completion
3) Perform and review geotechnical data and writing geotechnical reports
4) Scheduling and providing recommendations/advice to drilling crews, field technicians and/or clients
5) Review, mentor and co-sign reports prepared by other engineers
6) Track project budgets, invoicing and overall financial performance
7) Serve as a technical resource for internal teams and ongoing projects
TSC offers competitive wages and yearly performance/salary adjustments. This position will be entered into a yearly bonus pool. Bonuses are contingent on overall company as well as departmental performances (bonus would be in addition to the listed salary range). The Professional staff is also eligible to become stockowners in TSC and receive a yearly portion of company profits (Type S Corporation).

Qualifications
Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
8–15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
Experience with geotechnical reports for City of Chicago projects would be a plus
Experience with geotechnical reports for IDOT projects would also be a plus
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
