American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level II Trauma Center ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency in Oconomowoc, WI.

Work in a 14-bed ICU on the 2nd Floor of a 91-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
-
Patient population includes general/medical (sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, DKA), cardiac (CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, post-cath), trauma (GSW, stabbings, falls), surgical (GYN, GI, GU), and neuro (SDH, TBI, CVA, TIA, syncope) — no cardiovascular surgeries

Patient ratios are 1:1–3; when assigned more than 2 patients, team nursing is utilized with an experienced Med/Surg RN
-
12-hour day shift, 0700–1900, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Travelers float first; floating may occur anywhere within scope of practice, with a 1:4 ratio when floating to Med/Surg, Tele, or ED Boarding

No on-call requirements

EMR: Epic (experience required)

IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis

Bedside and centralized telemetry monitoring available

Active WI or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required; TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency in vent/trach management, tube and drain management, chest tubes, invasive line management (art line, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, surgical recovery, and medication titration (sedation, pressors, cardiac, pain, paralytics)

Experience with abdominal pressure monitoring, EVDs, CVVH, and IABP preferred

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
-

Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible

Department support includes a Charge RN who typically takes a patient assignment, 1–2 CNAs per shift, an HUC on day shift, a break buddy system, RT 24/7, Hospitalists 24/7, Intensivist 24/7, and OT/PT/ST during daytime hours
-
Orientation consists of 2 days: Day 1 covers system access, login, and badge setup followed by unit training; Day 2 is a full 12-hour shift on the unit with a preceptor

Schedule is made in 6-week increments

1 holiday is required per contract

RTO of up to 7 days may be approved
