POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to provide support for providers in all aspects of patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within a defined scope of care. Act as back-up driver for mobile unit when needed.
Education: Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) months experience as a Medical Assistant.

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

Certificate from Medical Assistant Training program.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
-
Performs patient intake (i.e. blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, respirations, weights and measurements) on patients for medical examination.

Performs tests (i.e. blood glucose test, urine dipstick, pulse oximetry, vision tests and hearing screens).

Gives medications/immunizations as ordered per route (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sub-dermal).

Notifies Clinic Nurse Coordinator and Provider of abnormal vital signs or lab results.

Prepares, maintains exam rooms assuring that they are cleaned and stocked.

Assist as back-up driver.

Assist with monitoring and maintaining Community Health databases.

Coordinate calendars and activities.
-
Assist other departments and programs within the organization during periods when the mobile unit is not in operation, providing administrative, clinical, outreach, or operational support as assigned to ensure continuity of services and organizational efficiency.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions:

Assist with primary care appointments.

Assist with orientation and training of new Medical Assistants, students, and volunteers.
