Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) in West Springfield, MA is hiring a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team. This full-time Veterinary Technician opportunity is ideal for a CVT, RVT, or LVT who is passionate about oncology, specialty medicine, patient care, and supporting families throughout their pet’s treatment journey.
As an Oncology Veterinary Technician at VESH, you’ll work closely with our doctors and specialty team to provide advanced treatments, compassionate support, and exceptional nursing care for patients receiving cancer care.
Compensation

Responsibilities
As an Oncology Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey while delivering exceptional care and client communication.

Perform patient intakes and obtain detailed medical histories

Review treatment plans, cost estimates, medications, and discharge instructions with clients

Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, procedures, and chemotherapy administration

Collect and prepare diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates
-
Perform medical calculations and administer medications and treatments as prescribed
-
Safely handle and administer chemotherapy agents according to hospital safety protocols
-
Assist with radiographs, CT scans, ultrasound procedures, and patient positioning
-
Monitor sedated patients during procedures and oversee safe recovery
-
Deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining accurate medical records
-
Collaborate closely with doctors and fellow technicians to ensure excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications-
Certified Veterinary Technician required (CVT, RVT, or LVT)

Active veterinary technician credential in Massachusetts required

Previous oncology experience preferred

Strong technical nursing skills and confidence in patient handling

Ability to perform medical calculations and administer treatments accurately

Excellent communication and client education skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital environment

Friendly, dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented approach

Positive attitude with a strong commitment to hospital culture and collaboration

Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team
