Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to insurance providers.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for compliance and audit purposes.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure all billing information is accurate and complete.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, EHR platforms, and medical records management.
- Solid understanding of medical billing processes including claim submission, follow-up, appeals, denials, and collections.
- Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately for coding purposes.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred; certification in medical coding is a plus.
- Prior experience with ABA is a huge plus
Pay: $25.52 - $30.74 per hour
