Education/Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science/software engineering/relevant field or equivalent work experience required. 3-6years experience required.

Summary

Act as lead in installation, configuration, administration and support of UNIX systems (AIX 5.3/6.1, RHEL 4.x/5.x, Suse Linux, Korn shell, Perl, SAN, NAS) and related components to achieve high availability, stability and performance for the various business applications supported.

Skills and Competencies

Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical solutions and guidance for all aspects of UNIX environment including AIX/RHEL/Suse Linux.
Responsible for Performance monitoring and tuning, OS hardening, problem management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
Suggest ways to improve/expand upon the efficiency of UNIX operations, networking technologies, policies, procedures and best practices.
Design, implement infrastructure procedures, proposals, plans, and guidelines for system configuration, deployment, and support.
Apply packages and security patches on AIX and Linux servers.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate development and determine project scope and limitations
Apply packages and security patches on AIX and Linux servers.
Develop new UNIX scripts (Korn shell and Perl scripting) to support task automation and monitoring activities. Provide 24x7 rotating on-call support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
