Responsibilities
- Efficiently operate commercial dishwashing equipment to ensure all dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to food safety standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including basic ingredient handling and setup for meal service.
- Support the kitchen team by bussing tables, clearing plates, and maintaining cleanliness in dining and prep areas.
- Follow strict sanitation procedures for cleaning kitchen surfaces, equipment, and storage areas to uphold health regulations.
- Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting of pots, pans, and boxes of supplies while adhering to proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
- Maintain inventory of dishware and cleaning supplies; notify management when stock needs replenishing.
- Support food safety management practices by adhering to hygiene standards and participating in sanitation routines regularly.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service environments with knowledge of restaurant or catering operations.
- Familiarity with food handling procedures and food safety sanitizing protocols.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers and basic prep tools.
- Strong understanding of kitchen health and safety standards, including sanitation practices.
- Excellent manual handling skills with the ability to lift heavy items safely during cleaning or supply movement.
- Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep when required.
- Experience with banquet or catering settings is a plus, demonstrating flexibility in fast-paced environments.
