Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately for retail sales transactions, including gasoline sales, convenience store items, and merchandise.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product inquiries, product demos, and upselling opportunities to enhance their shopping experience.
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, including cash handling, balancing registers, and reconciling sales at the end of each shift.
- Stock shelves and maintain clean, organized displays to ensure products are well-presented and accessible.
- Conduct merchandising activities to promote featured products and seasonal items effectively.
- Maintain phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries or directing calls professionally.
- Assist with inventory management by stocking new items and participating in periodic stock counts.
- Support team members with supervising experience by guiding new staff on store procedures and customer service standards when needed.
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales or grocery store experience is preferred, especially familiarity with cashiering and stock management.
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations; basic math skills are essential for accurate transactions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide friendly, professional customer service in a bilingual environment are highly valued.
- Experience with retail math, cash drawer handling, upselling techniques, and merchandising strategies is a plus.
- Demonstrated phone etiquette and effective communication skills to engage with diverse customers.
- Supervising experience is advantageous but not required; leadership qualities are appreciated for team collaboration.
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge and grocery store operations will help you excel in this role.
