Trusts & Estates Legal Assistant
FloranceGordonBrown, PC, a full-service law firm located in downtown Richmond, is seeking a legal assistant to join our trusts and estates team. The legal assistant will assist attorneys with a variety of duties related to estate planning and the administration of trusts and estates. The ideal candidate will be reliable and motivated with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in providing excellent client service in a professional environment. Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency are required. The hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please forward your resume with contact information and salary requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the preparation of trust and estate accountings for beneficiaries, courts and fiduciaries.
· Gather, review and organize financial records, bank statements, brokerage statements, receipts and supporting documentation.
· Reconcile trust and estate transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
· Draft and format, edit, and proofread documents with full attention to detail.
· Maintain complex calendar(s) of estate planning, probate and tax deadlines.
· Schedule estate planning appointments, signing meetings, and probate appointments.
· Communicate with clients regarding their matters and respond to inquiries when appropriate.
· Prepare routine correspondence with clients, beneficiaries, courts, and other parties.
· Coordinate mailings and filings with the IRS, courts, and Commissioner of Accounts’ offices.
· Prepare for and participate in signing meetings for estate planning clients, including notarization of documents and preparation of final estate planning documents.
· Set up, organize and maintain client files, both electronic and hard copy, to ensure they are properly organized and up to date and manage client documents.
· Perform other administrative and legal support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or bookkeeper preferred.
· Excellent customer/client service skills.

· Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage workloads, and meet deadlines.
