FULFILLMENT ASSOCIATE
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:30 am - 6:00 pm
Job description:
ABOUT GRAYLING
Grayling is a Portland-based, woman-led jewelry brand known for creating modern, skin-safe jewelry made from high-quality materials.
Founded 15 years ago by someone with extremely sensitive skin who couldn’t find jewelry that worked for her, Grayling grew from a small idea into a nationally loved brand with a loyal customer following and a flagship retail store on Alberta Street.
We’re not a traditional jewelry store. Our space is warm, creative, fast-moving, and customer-focused. People come for the jewelry—but they come back for the experience and the team.
We’re also expanding: we just opened our first piercing studio, STACKED.
THE ROLE: FULFILLMENT ASSOCIATE
We are looking for a detail-oriented, communicative, and proactive individual to support our busy in-house fulfillment team.
This is an entry-level, cross-functional position best suited for someone who enjoys both being on their feet and working at a computer, following established processes, triple-checking their work, and making customers happy!
You will be trained on everything you need—but success in this role depends on your communication skills, reliability, and ability to stay calm and helpful during busy shifts.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Process online orders by printing and preparing invoices (Shopify)
- Pick jewelry from inventory, pack it according to our specifications, and prepare each order for shipment
- Perform support functions for both FOH and BOH, such as receiving and QC-ing products and materials, prepping jewelry boxes, cleaning/polishing jewelry, and gift-wrapping orders
- Perform quality and accuracy checks throughout the fulfillment process
- Coordinate with mail carriers for pick-ups and deliveries
- Process and coordinate in-store pick-up orders
- Handle incoming online customer support inquiries (Zendesk), help direct customers based on their needs while maintaining a personable and professional demeanor
- Answer the shop phone and direct customer questions over calls, text, e-mail, and social media
- Process claims, returns, and exchanges (Corso) based on our policies
- Coordinate with our inventory team on returns, defects, and supply counts
- Provide support in opening and closing procedures and cleaning tasks
Note: Jewelry making and sales are not part of this role.
WHO DOES WELL IN THIS ROLE
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Enjoy working both independently and as part of a small team
- Stay upbeat, calm, and professional in busy environments
- Learn quickly and take feedback well
- Are reliable and show up consistently ready to work
- Can spot inefficiencies and proactively address them
- Like structured tasks but can also problem-solve in real time
- Can easily switch up tasks and adjust to a change of pace day-to-day
- Pay attention to detail and take pride in keeping things organized
Previous fulfillment and/or back-end customer service experience is a huge plus!
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Busy retail store on Alberta Street with high customer traffic on weekends (even though this role doesn’t work the sales floor, you can still expect a lot of hustle & bustle)
