CHS 1st Shift Freight Dispatcher
We are looking for an experienced 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. lead freight dispatcher for a pick-up and delivery company located in Ladson. This position operates in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to multi-task and be pro-active is critical to the success in this position. This role is for someone who enjoys daily challenges, a day that passes quickly, and welcomes customer interaction with a lot of task variety.
The primary role of the dispatcher is initiate all traffic and freight movements first thing each morning, control the inbounding, sorting and staging of freight, and then to coordinate the out-bounding of the daily trucks and freight, to monitor email and phone freight pick-up and delivery requests, and schedule drivers to make those deliveries and pick up shipments to or from customers. You will communicate with customers to record details about shipments, arrange pick up times and discuss any special handling issues.
Along with a detail-oriented personality, a candidate must have strong customer service and impeccable organizational skills. This position is multi-faceted and self-motivation is key. Requirements: Punctual with reliable transport to work
Professional attitude with a ‘will-do/can-do’ attitude’
Ability to answer a multi-line phone system and remain poised with competing needs
Familiarity with all Microsoft products, data entry/dispatching needed
Knowledge of Charleston/wider SC geography definitely a good thing.
Experience in freight required.
Clean background – we handle TSA certifies air cargo and do background checks, and have a mandatory company-wide zero tolerance drug policy.
Salary paid weekly in arrears direct into bank, excellent paid-time off policy, discretionary year-end bonus, pension plan, and health/dental/vision included.
