We are a growing CPA firm providing tax, accounting, and advisory services to individuals and small-to-mid-sized businesses. We value accuracy, professionalism, and strong client relationships, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team.
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing tax returns, performing bookkeeping and financial accounting tasks, and assisting with client financial reporting. This role requires solid tax experience, strong accounting fundamentals, and the ability to manage multiple engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, partnership, corporate, and trust tax returns
- Perform bookkeeping services, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
- Assist with payroll processing and related filings
- Support clients with accounting questions and tax-related inquiries
- Maintain accurate and organized workpapers and documentation
- Assist with year-end close and tax planning projects
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in a CPA firm or public accounting environment
- Strong tax preparation experience
- Proficiency in bookkeeping and financial accounting
- Experience with accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines during peak tax seasons
