Installs underground utility systems including water mains, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage for heavy civil construction projects throughout Central Florida. Works as part of a crew to ensure pipe systems are installed accurately to line, grade, and project specifications in compliance with FDOT and local municipality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Excavate, prepare, and maintain trenches in Central Florida soil and groundwater conditions

Install pipe systems including PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, and reinforced concrete pipe (RCP)

Set pipe to proper line and grade using laser levels, GPS, and grade stakes

Install and connect manholes, inlets, junction boxes, and related structures

Ensure proper bedding, joint sealing, and backfill/compaction procedures

Assist with dewatering systems in high water table conditions

Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, and utility layouts

Maintain safe work practices around heavy equipment and trench operations
Requirements:

2+ years of experience in underground utility or heavy civil construction

Strong understanding of grade, slope, and elevation control

Familiarity with FDOT or municipal utility installation standards preferred

Experience working in wet, sandy, and high groundwater conditions common in Central Florida

Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, and changing site conditions
