Supervisor of Electrical Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Manages a team of maintenance technicians to ensure the proper functioning and repair of electrical systems in a facility or organization. Provides guidance, training, and support to the maintenance team to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations. Collaborates with other departments to schedule maintenance activities and minimize downtime.
Essential Functions
• Understand VMC’s electrical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Continue to develop their application in their Division.
• Enforce safe operating standards, continually improving electrical safety through observation and coaching.
• Supervise electrical support activities for all plants, including preventative maintenance.
• Implement, coordinate, and manage electrical projects and work in their Division.
• Establish and continually improve preventative maintenance efforts to ensure safe and reliable electrical equipment operation.
• Interface with design teams on capital and maintenance projects.
• Track and maintain parts inventories, balancing product availability with cost effectiveness.
• Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA and OSHA
• Monitor contracted electrical companies.
• Assist in planning and executing a training regimen to continuously upgrade employee skills.

Responsibilities Education
• High School degree or equivalent.
• Electrician's license or other relevant certifications.
Experience
• 5-10 years of electrical experience in the aggregate or a heavy industrial environment.
• Applying policies and practices in regards to Safety, Health, and Environmental.
• Designing and managing the construction of projects related to different types of power distribution (Overhead and Underground) including both low and medium voltage.
• Working with PLC’s, Soft Starts, and VFD’s.
• Designing motor control systems.
• Hiring and supervising electrical contractors.
• Management of small and medium scale electrical projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must be a team player who is also capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be professional, organized, and a flexible self-starter.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of CAD, Excel, Word, MS Project (or similar software).
• Knowledge of mine production techniques and equipment, safety and environmental regulations (NEC, MSHA and OSHA).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and manage effectively.
• Must represent VMC in a professional manner to all customers, vendors and internal personnel.
• Strong relationship building skills with all employee levels and with internal and external customers
• Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and priorities at one time.
Other Requirements
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis and have a valid driver's license.
• Work environment will include being around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases.
• May be required to use hand tools or power tools.
• Outside setting will expose employee to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
