LATA is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Environmental Technician I to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will support environmental remediation, demolition, maintenance, sampling, and industrial cleaning projects at various work sites. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in physically demanding environments, follows safety procedures diligently, and works effectively as part of a team. Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of hands-on field activities related to demolition, environmental remediation, industrial cleaning, and facility maintenance projects in chemical plants, industrial facilities, and other regulated work environments.
- Safely execute assigned tasks while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and specialized safety gear, ensuring compliance with all site-specific and regulatory requirements.
- Support project success by maintaining organized, clean, and hazard-free work areas through proactive housekeeping and site maintenance activities.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and fellow team members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Follow written work plans, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and verbal instructions with attention to detail while adapting to changing project needs and field conditions.
- Promote a strong culture of safety by identifying potential hazards, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards, and actively participating in safety meetings, training, and compliance initiatives.
- Assist with environmental sampling, material handling, equipment operation, and other project-related field activities to support client objectives and project deliverables.
- Communicate professionally with project management regarding work progress, site conditions, safety concerns, and operational needs.
- Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset by contributing to a variety of environmental and industrial service projects and supporting overall project success.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet operational and customer requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in construction, environmental services, industrial cleaning, demolition, maintenance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow direction, and communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
- Ability to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous manual labor.
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate industrial work environments safely.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, confined spaces, and high-noise environments.
- Must possess adequate vision (natural or corrected) and the ability to safely perform all essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification.
- Radiological Worker II Training.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in construction, environmental remediation, demolition, or industrial services.
- Experience working on DOE, DOD, or other government projects.
- Experience operating equipment and tools commonly used in environmental and industrial field services.
