We’re looking for a machinist who can balance
consistency and complexity—running repeat production with precision while also handling
complex large-part setups. You follow processes carefully, make smart adjustments when needed, and are committed to getting every detail right, no matter the challenge.
At MRG Tool and Die, a
family-owned business built on integrity, collaboration, and innovation, our employees make the difference—proving that great ideas, teamwork, and craftsmanship can turn our customers’ concepts into reality. We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to run production and perform specialized setups on our
2023 Okuma MCR AC5.
Key Projects
- Production Runs – A family of parts produced using a proven, established process to ensure consistent, high-quality results. This requires strict adherence to tight tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- Large Frame Project – Picking up on welded features to locate the part, making necessary adjustments, and ensuring machined details are placed in exact locations. This work utilizes Renishaw probing to inspect features and guide accurate machining.
We’re looking for someone who not only excels in operating and setting up complex equipment but also has a
thorough understanding of CNC programming, is
fluent in Mastercam, and
fluent in Okuma controls. You should be able to
test your code and have the drive to
continuously improve your programming knowledge. A strong interest in learning and understanding
machine code is essential for success in this role.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate the Okuma MCR AC5 for both production and large-part machining projects.
- Follow established machining processes to deliver consistent, high-quality parts.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs in Mastercam; test code to verify accuracy and performance.
- Maintain tight tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- Set up and machine large welded frames, using Renishaw probing to pick up features and adjust machining as needed.
- Make targeted program adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Quality Team to verify dimensions and resolve issues.
- Manage workflow between two primary projects, maintaining productivity and quality.
- Actively expand programming skills and understanding of machine code and Okuma controls.
Competencies
- Experience operating and setting up large CNC bridge mills or similar equipment.
- Fluent in Mastercam programming with the ability to test and validate code.
- Fluent in Okuma controls, with strong understanding of machine operations and functions.
- Experience with Renishaw probing for part location, inspection, and feature placement (highly preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Detail-focused with a strong drive to complete work to the highest standards.
- Quick to recognize and resolve issues that could affect quality or delivery.
- Eager to learn, adapt, and grow in programming capability.
- Willingness to step in, adapt, and support team needs as priorities shift.
Join our family-oriented team where your precision, programming expertise, and commitment to quality make a lasting impact.
