The Organization: We are a new community center located in a struggling neighborhood in downtown Dover. We are dedicated to the well-being of neighborhood children, who struggle with acadmics, emotional intellegence, the need for mentors, and a lack of recreational facilities downtown.
The Position: We need an experienced educator to manage our after-school program of mentoring and recreation. The position requires a highly organized and self-initiating person to work 25 hours per week for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning in August. The wage is $18-20 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Duties:
- Forming nurturing relationships with children
- Developing new program ideas and taking initiative
- Academic skills assessments
- Organizing volunteer tutors
- Planning recreation, games, crafts
- Administering the program
Skills needed:
- Experience with teaching and tutoring
- Organization and administration
- Personality that makes children feel comfortable
- Ability to be firm but nurturing
- Comfort being in a room alone with adolescent boys
College degree and experience are required.
