Duties
- Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations by preparing patients, handling equipment, and documenting findings accurately using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic.
- Conduct preliminary tests including vital signs, visual acuity assessments, and basic physiology measurements to support diagnosis.
- Manage optical inventory, including ordering lenses, frames, and supplies while maintaining proper stock levels through retail math principles.
- Provide exceptional customer service by guiding patients through frame selections, explaining lens options, and addressing questions about optical products.
- Support laboratory processes such as lens fitting, adjustments, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed for patient safety.
- Maintain detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Assist with billing procedures by understanding medical coding related to ophthalmology services and processing insurance claims accurately.
- Promote retail sales by educating patients on eyewear options, accessories, and special promotions to enhance their experience and meet sales targets.
Experience
- Previous experience in an optical setting or ophthalmology clinic is a plus; familiarity with clinic workflows enhances your effectiveness. However, we are willing to train the exceptional candidate.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology supports accurate patient assessments.
- Retail management or sales experience helps in providing excellent customer service and achieving sales goals.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures compliance with patient privacy standards at all times.
- Laboratory experience involving lens fitting or optical device adjustments is a plus.
- Strong communication skills combined with a proactive attitude enable you to excel in a fast-paced healthcare environment dedicated to senior care, pediatrics, or general ophthalmology.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
