Peer Support Services Department
Full-Time | In-Office Position
Greater Outreach Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Qualified Professional (QP) to join our Peer Support Services Department. This position is responsible for providing oversight, support, documentation review, care coordination, and direct service support for the Peer Support Services program.
The ideal candidate must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced behavioral health setting. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Position Overview
The Qualified Professional will oversee assigned peer support staff, ensure service documentation meets agency and regulatory expectations, complete required Person-Centered Plans and Crisis Plans, monitor service delivery, and provide direct care when needed to prevent service gaps.
This role requires strong leadership, clinical documentation skills, knowledge of behavioral health services, and the ability to work closely with peer staff, clients, families, natural supports, clinical staff, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day oversight and support to Certified Peer Support Specialists.
- Review peer support notes, service documentation, goals, interventions, and service activities for accuracy, quality, timeliness, and medical necessity.
- Ensure documentation supports the services provided and aligns with the client’s approved Person-Centered Plan.
- Complete Person-Centered Plans, Crisis Plans, updates, addendums, and related service planning documents.
- Monitor authorization dates, plan due dates, reauthorization needs, and submission deadlines.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed within agency, MCO, Medicaid, and service definition timelines.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and guidance to peer support staff regarding documentation, service delivery, engagement, boundaries, and professional expectations.
- Assist with caseload assignments, service coordination, staff communication, and follow-up on client needs.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision meetings, staffing, and care coordination meetings.
- Communicate with clients, families, natural supports, providers, and community partners as appropriate.
- Provide direct care and billable services when needed due to staffing shortages, client needs, urgent service gaps, or program coverage needs.
- Assist with crisis response, safety planning, referral coordination, and linkage to community resources.
- Track client progress, barriers, service utilization, documentation trends, and staff performance concerns.
- Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with confidentiality, HIPAA, agency policies, and service requirements.
- Work collaboratively with leadership to improve service quality, staff accountability, and client outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet North Carolina Qualified Professional requirements under applicable behavioral health staff definitions. NC DHHS states that QP status is based on meeting the criteria outlined in 10A NCAC 27G .0104.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a human services field preferred.
- Experience providing or supervising behavioral health, mental health, substance use, developmental disability, or peer support services.
- Strong knowledge of Person-Centered Planning, Crisis Planning, service documentation, medical necessity, and behavioral health coordination.
- Ability to review notes and documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be dependable, professional, organized, and able to work independently.
- Must be comfortable working in an in-office setting full-time.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising Certified Peer Support Specialists.
- Experience with Medicaid-funded behavioral health services.
- Knowledge of Peer Support Services, reauthorization processes, MCO requirements, documentation standards, and service definitions.
- Experience completing PCPs, Crisis Plans, service updates, and clinical documentation.
- Experience using an electronic health record system.

Work Schedule
Full-time schedule during regular business hours. Some flexibility may be required to meet program needs, deadlines, staff supervision needs, client care needs, or urgent service coverage.
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on education, experience, qualifications, and agency needs.
