Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Insulator to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, insulating, and maintaining mechanical systems across various construction projects. Your expertise will ensure the efficiency, safety, and durability of HVAC systems, piping, and other mechanical components. Duties
- Install insulation on pipes, ducts, tanks, and other mechanical systems following project specifications and blueprints.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately execute insulation plans.
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and secure insulation materials such as foam, fiberglass, or mineral wool.
- Measure and cut insulation materials precisely to fit various mechanical components and ensure optimal thermal performance.
- Apply caulking, plastering, or sealing techniques to prevent air leaks and improve system efficiency.
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpentry, roofing, masonry, and HVAC technicians to coordinate installation processes.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials responsibly.
- Conduct inspections of installed insulation for quality assurance and adherence to safety standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction site work with a focus on mechanical insulation or related trades.
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and material requirements.
- Proficiency with hand tools (e.g., knives, scissors) and power tools (e.g., drills, saws).
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with fabrication techniques for custom insulation solutions.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, metal stud framing, concrete finishing, masonry, roofing, plastering, trim carpentry, stucco application, airless paint spraying, and construction painting is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to piping systems or ductwork is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in measuring and fitting insulation materials.
- Ability to work safely at heights or in confined spaces while adhering to safety protocols.
