Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Location: Cary, NC 27519
Job Type: Contract - 13 Weeks
Job Duties:
- Perform patient rooming and intake, including collecting vital signs, height, weight, and information related to the patient's reason for visit.
- Collect patient and family medical and social history.
- Review current medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
- Assist providers during treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
- Perform tests such as EKGs and eye exams under provider direction.
- Review patient records for routine health screenings.
- Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, tests, treatments, and referrals.
- Answer clinic telephone calls and assist with in-basket activities under provider or nurse direction.
- Provide patients with after-visit, follow-up, self-care, and procedural instructions as directed.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
- May precept new medical assistants and externs and train other medical assistants in clinic procedures.
- Assist with preventive health measures and clinic quality or safety activities.
- Assist with clinic supply ordering.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Recent OB/GYN experience required.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work positively with patients and families.
- Ability to work effectively with staff and providers as part of a team.
- Ability to use a computer and document required information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA/CCMA, NAHP/NRCMA, or NCCT/NCMA.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- EMR experience required.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
