Your impact
We're seeking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our design team in Philadelphia, PA . As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in our Cities and Places team. You'll impact the world around you by solving real-life challenges, designing buildings and spaces in the Higher Education, Life Sciences, and Corporate Commercial sectors helping clients capitalize on emerging trends in built environments.
What you'll do
Lead mechanical engineering aspects of complex design projects, both new and renovations of existing buildings, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications
Collaborate with full-service teams of architects, engineers and clients to develop innovative solutions
Perform detailed engineering calculations and analyses to support design decisions
Create and review technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
Interact with clients to understand requirements and present engineering solutions
Conduct site assessments and field investigations as needed
Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices
Represent Jacobs in person and on site with new and potential clients within local markets
Support proposal development, client relationship management, and strategic pursuits withing the Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic markets.
Here's what you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) registration required; Pennsylvania registration preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity
10+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role focused on building systems design
Demonstrated expertise across our market sectors (Higher Education, Science & Research, Corporate Commercial)
Proficiency with engineering design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace 3D Plus, Selection Software, etc.)
Strong understanding of industry codes and standards (ASME, ASHRAE, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
Strong project management capabilities including outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Ideally, you’ll also have
Business ties and network connections to the Philadelphia community
Ability to travel for work in the region and to collaborate with other Jacobs offices
Engagement in professional networks
Experience in the design of Mission Critical facilities

Posted Salary Range: Minimum
145,000.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
195,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $145,000.00 to $195,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
