Position Summary: The Construction Trainer delivers high-quality, hands-on construction training for adults preparing for entry-level construction careers. This role supports students in building foundational jobsite skills, including tool identification and use, construction math, blueprint reading, materials handling, employability skills, and professional work habits. The trainer should be able to create an engaging, practical learning environment that connects classroom instruction to real construction job expectations.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver instructor-led construction training in classroom, workshop, and hands-on learning environments.
· Teach foundational construction topics such as construction math, hand and power tools, blueprint reading, basic rigging, materials handling, communication, employability skills, and professional workplace expectations.
· Demonstrate proper tool use, construction techniques, materials handling, and jobsite procedures during hands-on training activities.
· Develop, update, and organize lesson plans, training materials, practical exercises, demonstrations, assessments, and classroom activities.
· Evaluate student progress through written assessments, skills demonstrations, participation, and observation during hands-on activities.
· Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, completion status, certifications, and other program documentation.
· Support student career readiness by reinforcing punctuality, teamwork, communication, problem solving, and professionalism.
· Ensure training areas, tools, equipment, and materials are maintained and used according to program procedures.
· Collaborate with program leadership, employer partners, and other instructors to keep training aligned with industry needs and workforce outcomes.
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of three to five years of construction, skilled trades, jobsite supervision, or related field experience.
· Strong understanding of basic construction processes, tool use, materials handling, blueprint reading, and jobsite expectations.
· Ability to teach adult learners with varying levels of experience, confidence, and educational backgrounds.
· Strong communication, classroom management, coaching, and presentation skills.
· Ability to demonstrate proper tool use and guide students during hands-on construction activities.
· Comfortable using training materials, digital tools, attendance records, assessments, and basic reporting systems.
· Commitment to student success, workforce development, and preparing participants for employment in construction-related roles.
· Ability to pass any required background checks, drug screening, or partner clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
· Degree or certifications in general construction, skilled trades or related field.
· NCCER Core, NCCER craft instructor, construction education, or related trainer certification.
· Experience teaching tool proficiency, blueprint reading, construction math, materials handling, or workforce readiness courses.
· Experience working with adult learners, underemployed populations, high school graduates, career changers, or workforce development participants.
· Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
· Experience with employer partnerships, job placement support, or career and technical education programs.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, demonstrate techniques, and supervise hands-on activities for extended periods.
· Ability to lift, move, or demonstrate the handling of tools, materials, and training equipment as needed.
· Ability to work in classroom, warehouse, workshop, lab, or simulated jobsite environments.
· Strong understanding of construction training processes and best practices.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to design training materials and programs.
· Experience in assessing training needs and evaluating training outcomes.
· Certification or training in adult learning principles is a plus.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Position Details
Hours: Monday - Friday, On-Site
Pay: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
