The Galveston Children's Museum is seeking friendly, energetic, and dependable individuals to join our Play Patrol team.
As a Guest Experience Associate, you'll help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children and families can explore, learn, and play together. From welcoming guests at the admissions desk to facilitating hands-on activities, birthday parties, field trips, and special events, you'll play an important role in making every visit memorable.
This position is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in customer service, hospitality, tourism, retail, restaurants, museums, education, childcare, camps, recreation, or visitor attractions.
No museum experience is required, we'll provide the training!
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Provide exceptional customer service to children, families, school groups, and visitors.
- Operate the admissions desk, memberships, gift shop, and point-of-sale system.
- Engage children and caregivers in interactive exhibits and hands-on learning experiences.
- Facilitate STEM activities, crafts, and educational programs.
- Assist with birthday parties, camps, field trips, outreach events, and community programs.
- Prepare, organize, and restock activity materials throughout the day.
- Maintain clean, organized, safe, and welcoming exhibit spaces.
- Monitor exhibits and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist with opening, closing, and general museum operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience - Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Customer service
- Hospitality or tourism
- Hotels or visitor attractions
- Museums, zoos, aquariums, or cultural organizations
- Retail or restaurant operations
- Front desk or guest services
- Childcare, camps, after-school programs, or education
- Recreation or youth programming
- Cash handling or point-of-sale systems
Bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and special events.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively engage with guests throughout the day.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
