Seasonal, Part-Time Position
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour
Schedule: Four days per week, approximately 4.5 hours per dayPosition Overview
Burgio Educational Consulting Services is hiring compassionate, dependable Behavior Technicians to support our 2026 inclusive summer camp program.
This non-clinical camp is designed for children and youth with developmental, behavioral, sensory, communication, and diverse support needs who may experience barriers to participating in traditional summer programs.
Behavior Technicians will help campers safely and successfully participate in structured activities, creative projects, outdoor play, social opportunities, meals, transitions, and other natural camp routines.
This is a seasonal position offering approximately 18 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
Schedule
- Monday through Thursday
- Approximately 4.0-4.5 hours per day
- Camp programming is anticipated to run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with additional time for preparation and cleanup
- Final camp dates and hours will be confirmed before employment begins
Compensation
$20.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience, training, and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group support to campers with diverse needs
- Promote communication, social participation, self-advocacy, regulation, and independence
- Support campers during activities, meals, transitions, outdoor play, and daily routines
- Follow camper support plans, safety procedures, and staff direction
- Recognize early signs of dysregulation and respond with calm, proactive support
- Use positive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate behavior-support strategies
- Assist with personal care or daily living needs when required
- Maintain active supervision and support camper safety
- Communicate professionally with camp leadership, coworkers, and families
- Assist with activity preparation, setup, cleanup, and organization
- Participate in required orientation and staff training
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting children or youth with developmental, behavioral, communication, sensory, or learning differences
- Previous experience as a Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician, Certified Behavior Technician, paraeducator, classroom aide, childcare provider, camp counselor, direct-support professional, or similar role
- Knowledge of positive behavior support, regulation strategies, de-escalation, or trauma-informed practices
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and supportive in active camp environments
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow individualized support and safety plans
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
RBT or CBT certification is welcomed but not required for all candidates.
Physical and Workplace Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Actively supervise children in indoor and outdoor settings
- Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift
- Participate in recreational and camp activities
- Respond promptly to safety concerns
- Provide physical assistance or personal-care support when required by a camper’s needs
- Work in an active environment that may include noise, movement, water activities, playground activities, and changing routines
