American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Mixed ICU with 18 beds within a 388-bed, Level 3 Trauma Center hospital
-
Patient population includes Medical ICU (DKA, DTs, multisystem failure, ARDS, CIWA/ETOH, sepsis, PNA, COVID), Surgical ICU (open abdomen, thoracotomies), Neuro ICU (CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, craniotomy/craniectomy with EVDs and ICP monitoring), and CVICU (CABG/TAVR, fem-pop bypass, AAA repair)

Patient ratio of 1:2-3 based on acuity

Travelers are not expected to manage CRRT, impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO patients
-
Uses Epic EMR, BD Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Every other weekend rotation required
-
Night shift scheduling with attempts to cluster shifts together when possible
-
Floating required to Respiratory Unit, Surgical Floor, Telemetry Floor, PCU, and ED for helping hands, transport, or sitting duties

acls, and nihss certifications required

Cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, and proning skills required
-
Knowledge of hypothermia protocol required
-
Experience with chest tubes, drains, and invasive line monitoring (a-lines, CVP) required
-
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
-
Travel experience strongly preferred, though flexible for candidates with strong ICU experience
-
Medical ICU experience preferred over CV/surgical
-
Traveler Telemetry Competency exam required to be completed and passed prior to start

], mobility Tech, HUC (0800-1830), 24/7 Rapid Response Nurse, free floating charge nurse, resource nurse, and 24/7 Hospitalist and RT support

Intensivist present throughout the day with occasional overnight on-call coverage

General orientation includes 2x 12-hour shifts of on-unit orientation
-
Unit will start candidates on lower acuity patients and gradually increase based on demonstrated skill level
-
Up to 5 days of time off can be approved, excluding holidays
-
Holiday coverage expected for 1-2 holidays per season (summer/winter)

Overtime is sometimes available but offered to staff first
-
Scrubs of any professional color are acceptable
-

Unit has strong teamwork culture and is experienced with integrating travelers
