Position Summary
The Fleet & Equipment Mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and maintains our full range of equipment — from handheld small engines to trucks and heavy machinery. This is a key, high-trust role: when the equipment runs, our crews produce. You’ll work primarily from our shop, with occasional field repairs, to keep downtime low and our teams safe and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines — mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and chainsaws (2-cycle & 4-cycle)
- Service and repair trucks (light- and medium-duty, gas & diesel) — engines, brakes, suspension, cooling, and electrical
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment — backhoes, skid steers, skidders, chippers, mowers, trailers, and attachments
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical/12V, fuel, cooling, and drivetrain systems
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (fluids, filters, belts, blades, tires) and track service intervals
- Respond to field breakdowns and complete on-site repairs when needed
- Maintain accurate work orders, service records, and equipment logs
- Monitor parts inventory and coordinate parts ordering
- Perform DOT-style safety inspections; flag equipment for major repair or replacement
- Welding and light fabrication as needed
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA / safety standards
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years hands-on mechanical experience across small engines, trucks, and heavy equipment
- Working knowledge of gas & diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose using manuals, diagnostic tools, and experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Own set of hand tools (BRLS provides shop & specialty tools)
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied shop/outdoor conditions
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work with minimal supervision
Preferred / Bonus
- ASE or manufacturer certifications (Kubota, John Deere, Bobcat, Cat, Vermeer, etc.)
- CDL Class A or B
- Welding / fabrication (MIG or stick)
- Trailer & DOT inspection knowledge
- Diesel emissions / DEF system experience
- EPA 609 A/C certification
- Bilingual (English / Spanish)

Pay: $27.71 - $33.38 per hour
Work Location: In person
