WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Project Manager II performs moderately complex (journey-level) project management work. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Work on Child Care and Early Learning procurement and contract projects that will directly impact the lives of Texas families.
- Coordinate, plan, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies.
- Coordinate project activities with other state agencies, governmental jurisdictions or private sector partners and contractors.
- Review and recommend proposals and bids to management.
- Monitor and manage project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable, fulfill the terms of the project contract or specifications, and are completed within budget.
- Identify potential project risks and difficulties and design strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
- Communicate project methodology and processes to interested groups and team members.
- Be part of a team of fast-paced and dynamic procurement leads that consistently strives to implement best practices and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- Three years of full-time experience in project management work, business analysis, or project administration; or three years of full-time experience in the oversight of an agency program or in strategic planning and policy implementation.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
- Experience in technical writing, procurement processes, and contract development.
- Experience in process facilitation, customer service, and data analysis.
- Strong communication and organization skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of project management theories and practices applicable to projects of moderate scope.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the administration of the project undertaken.
- Skill in operation of computers and applicable software.
- Ability to demonstrate negotiation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
