Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our long-term care team. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building systems, resident areas, and facility equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Director. The Maintenance Technician will participate in an on-call rotation and will be on call every other week to respond to facility maintenance needs and emergencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and ensure resident comfort
- Diagnose and repair issues related to heating, cooling, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems using technical manuals and schematics
- Complete repairs and replacements of facility equipment, fixtures, and components in a timely and safe manner
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents, nursing staff, and department managers
- Assist with room turnovers, renovations, and facility improvement projects while maintaining compliance with safety and infection control standards
- Conduct routine inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and facility grounds to identify and address maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work orders, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities
- Support emergency preparedness efforts, including response to power outages, weather events, or urgent facility needs
- Participate in the facility’s on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as needed
- Follow all OSHA, life safety, infection prevention, and long-term care regulatory guidelines
- Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Director and other departments to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for residents and staff
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous maintenance technician experience in long-term care, healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or commercial facilities preferred
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and general building maintenance
- Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
- Basic knowledge of construction, renovations, and facility upkeep practices
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and respond efficiently to maintenance needs
- Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to work independently while following direction from the Maintenance Director
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulatory compliance standards preferred
- Must be able to lift, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks associated with facility maintenance

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
