We are currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Rehabilitation for a hospital-based rehabilitation department serving both inpatient and outpatient populations in North Dakota. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced Physical Therapist (PT) who is passionate about clinical excellence, staff development, operational leadership, and delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
Position Overview
As the Director of Rehabilitation, you will oversee the clinical and operational success of the rehabilitation department while supporting a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals. This role combines leadership responsibilities with a commitment to high-quality patient care and program development.
Responsibilities include:

Providing leadership and oversight of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services

Supervising and mentoring rehabilitation staff, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and support personnel

Managing staffing, scheduling, productivity, budgeting, and departmental performance metrics

Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, state regulations, and federal guidelines

Collaborating with physicians, nursing leadership, case managers, and hospital administration

Monitoring clinical outcomes and implementing quality improvement initiatives

Participating in strategic planning, budgeting, and program development

Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations

Maintaining departmental documentation and reporting standards

Providing direct patient care as needed within the scope of licensure
Requirements

Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy program

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree required

Current and unrestricted North Dakota Physical Therapist License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date

Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and North Dakota jurisprudence requirements for licensure

Must meet North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy licensure requirements, including background check requirements where applicable

Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a hospital, acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or outpatient rehabilitation setting preferred

Previous rehabilitation leadership, supervisory, or management experience strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of rehabilitation operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary care coordination

Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire

Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
