American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and multiple certifications including CRT and BLS.

Acute care hospital setting in the Respiratory Therapy department
-
127 inpatient bed facility staffing 7 RTs during day shifts and 5 RTs during night shifts
-
Covers all inpatient areas, ED, inpatient and outpatient EKGs, and outpatient bronchoscopies in a procedural setting
-
Patient population is mainly adults, with occasional pediatric inpatient and family birthing unit coverage
-
May be called to initiate CPAP on an infant
-
As many as 40-70 treatments per therapist per shift and up to 8-9 vents in ICU at a time
-
Uses Expanse - hCare EMR
-
Equipment includes Puritan Bennett 840, Hamilton C1, Avea, Bipap v60, and Vapotherm for high flow
-
12-hour night shifts on a set schedule (0645-1915 or 1845-0715)
-
Every other weekend required, with schedules made 4 weeks in advance

Works holidays only if the holiday falls on a scheduled work day (Christmas and New Year's only)

No call or standby call requirements

Floating required within facility only

RTs assist with intubation only and are not required to intubate independently

Travelers are not required to perform critical care transport outside the facility

Minimum 2 years of experience required
-
ER, ICU, and inpatient adult experience required
-
Pediatric experience preferred; training provided
-
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist via NBRC), NRP, PALS, and STABLE Certification

RRT preferred
-
License required if applicable

Unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of consideration

Must reside within 100-mile radius of the facility

Professional appearance required, including clean-shaven for men and no long nails
-
Responsibilities include breathing treatments, vent management, ABG draws and sample running, and EKGs for outpatient and inpatient areas
-
Core RTs can place arterial lines
-
A points system is used to assign work areas, with efforts made to distribute assignments evenly
-
Lead therapist or supervisor is always available for support
-
Open ICU model with 2 pulmonologists on staff and a hospitalist in-house 24/7
-
Physician residents may intubate patients from time to time
-
Orientation includes general orientation, classroom modules, and approximately 3 days shadowing with a preceptor
-
All travelers start on inpatient units before branching into other areas
-
Facility will conduct a second interview and assess traveler skills on-site to facilitate appropriate assignments
-
Any color of professional scrubs is acceptable
-
Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract
