We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility tasks, fostering independence.
- Provide therapy interventions for clients with childhood developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, and disabilities across pediatric and adult populations.
- Help facilitate patient transport within healthcare facilities or to home settings while ensuring safety through manual handling techniques.
- Contribute to home health visits by delivering therapeutic activities that promote functional recovery in familiar environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient care and support the implementation of comprehensive care plans.
- Support patients in acute care settings by assisting with mobility exercises and functional activities to promote recovery.
- Engage in patient education regarding therapy exercises, safety measures, and adaptive techniques for improved daily functioning.
- Uphold safety standards during manual handling and patient transport procedures while respecting patient comfort and dignity.
Experience
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant credential from an accredited program is required.
- Prior experience working in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred.
- Experience delivering occupational therapy services in outpatient clinics or home health environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical imaging enhances your ability to support complex cases effectively.
- Proven track record working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, geriatrics, or pediatric populations demonstrates your versatility.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques for clients with autism or childhood developmental delays is desirable.
- Previous exposure to acute care or skilled nursing facility environments will help you adapt quickly to diverse clinical scenarios.
