We are seeking a skilled Portable Extinguisher Service Technician / Customer Support Specialist to join our field team. You will be the site-based service technician assigned to support one of the company's most important client relationships. This position is the primary field representative of Fire Safety, Inc. at the client site and is responsible for delivering thorough, reliable, and highly professional portable extinguisher and emergency lighting service across the client's facility or campus.
This role requires a technician who is comfortable spending the majority of the workday on their feet, walking extensive routes throughout large facilities to locate, inspect, and service extinguisher units, while consistently representing the company in a positive, professional, and customer-focused manner. Occasional overnight travel is required to support the account.
Job Summary
The Portable Extinguisher Service Technician / Customer Support Specialist is a hybrid role that may involve field service, warehouse operations, administrative duties, sales support, and customer communications, depending on operational and business needs.
The employee may perform physical field-based service work, non-physical administrative work, or a combination of both, as determined by management. Job duties may be adjusted or rotated based on workload, staffing levels, employee capability, and business requirements.
Essential Job Duties / Functions
The essential functions of this position may include any combination of the following duties.
A. Field & Physical Service Functions (as required)
· Coordinate portable extinguisher and emergency light service with emphasis on schedules, customer service, safety, and efficiency.
· Perform inspections, recharges, six-year maintenance, and general repair of portable fire extinguishers.
· Inspect wheeled extinguisher units, exit/emergency lighting (including battery and bulb replacement).
· Develop and grow assigned territory by expanding services to existing accounts and acquiring new accounts.
· Maintain service tools, PPE, and mobile shop trucks (clean, organized, stocked).
· Safely operate mobile shop trucks.
· Complete and turn in paperwork in a timely manner.
B. Administrative & Office Functions (as required)
· Perform general office duties including filing, scanning, and data entry.
· Prepare service documentation, invoices, proposals, and reports.
· Maintain customer and compliance records.
· Coordinate technician schedules and service routes.
· Assist with inventory tracking, stock requests, transfers, and warranty claims.
C. Customer Service & Telemarketing (as required)
· Conduct outbound and inbound calls to customers.
· Schedule inspections and service appointments.
· Follow up on quotes and sales leads.
· Promote additional services and products (specialty extinguishers, covers, hose, nozzles, cabinets, etc.).
D. Sales & Business Development Support (as required)
· Develop new and existing customer relationships.
· Generate and track sales leads for pre-engineered systems and fire training.
· Assist with proposal preparation and account follow-ups.
Working Conditions
This position may involve:
· Work performed in the field, in a warehouse, and/or in an office environment.
· Exposure to outdoor environments, weather conditions, industrial settings, hazardous chemicals, odors, dirt, dust, and noise.
· Office-based computer and telephone work.
· Extensive standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, occasional climbing of ladders.
· Standard and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
· Up to 4-5 days of overnight travel per month
Physical Requirements
Physical demands may vary depending on the assigned duties at any given time.
Physical Field-Based Requirements (when assigned)
· Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment weighing 10–60 lbs.
· Occasional movement of equipment over 96 lbs. using mechanical aids (dolly, pallet jack).
· Ability to frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb step ladders, and climb stairs while carrying equipment up to 65 lbs.
· Repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs; occasional overhead work.
· Frequent driving and entry/exit of service vehicles.
Non-Physical Administrative Requirements (when assigned)
· Ability to sit or stand at a workstation.
· Ability to operate a computer, telephone, and office equipment.
· No lifting or physical exertion required.
Minimum Job Qualifications
· Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
· Basic mechanical abilities.
· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (when assigned to field duties).
· Basic computer skills.
· Ability to perform physical and/or non-physical job functions depending on assignment.

Examinations
· This position requires a passing grade on a National Fire Protection Association exam administered by a third party within the first forty-five (45) days of employment. Failure to pass may result in termination.
