Job Summary: Responsible to be the leader of TCLAD’s current and new externally with current and new customers to excite and delivery new capabilities and products that solve customer problems and deliver profitable growth to TCLAD. Supporting this responsibility will require collaboration internally and externally. Direct people management and leadership of the Product Engineering team to meet short term and long-term strategic objectives through product development, ongoing Process/Quality improvement, managing special projects, coordinating capital plans and implementation, developing systems, and promoting a culture of motivation and creative solutions for complex manufacturing problems.

Team Management:
- Manage Product Engineering, Programming, and Customer Documentation.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Supervise employees in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Involved in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Conduct employee development through challenging assignments, technical conferences, seminars and formal training.
Engineering Management
- Act as TCLAD’s technical leader to customers to build excitement, trust and relationships by providing professional technical support, efficient and effective communications, and technical presentations virtually and in person.
- Lead the Product Engineering organization to deliver business growth, technical innovation, and operational excellence across all product lines.
- Define and execute short- and long-term engineering strategies aligned with corporate objectives, customer needs, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Own the full product lifecycle, including concept development, feasibility, new product introduction (NPI), and transition to stable high-volume production.
- Drive the technology roadmap by identifying, developing, and commercializing new circuit designs, materials, and process capabilities that expand market opportunities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, translating them into actionable development programs and competitive advantages.
- Lead feasibility studies, process development, and scale-up activities, ensuring robust qualification and successful transfer to manufacturing.
- Establish engineering standards, documentation systems, and process controls to ensure product quality, repeatability, and compliance.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain to align on product design, cost targets, manufacturability, and delivery performance.
- Develop and encourage technical contacts and working relationships to develop strong customer partnerships in developing new designs and applications.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for key customers, providing application guidance, design recommendations, and roadmap communication.
- Develop white papers with new technology and capability for publication. Review Sales and Marketing materials and provide technical support as needed.
- Participate in capital planning and make recommendations to support growth, capacity, and capability expansion, ensuring projects meet cost, timing, and performance expectations.
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching, mentoring, and targeted skill development aligned with business needs.
- Provide daily support to product Engineering team by reviewing designs, supporting DRC questions/activities, and collaborating on customer design response and recommendations as needed.
- Oversee technical input to quoting and cost modeling for prototypes and production programs, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities and business margin expectations.
- Coordinate UL submission and changes as required to support new product introduction.
Operation Support:
- Provide engineering leadership to manufacturing operations to ensure processes are stable, capable, and optimized for cost, quality, and throughput related to customer designs and design for manufacturability.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) principles across targeted products to improve efficiency and reduce variation.
- Act as a technical escalation point for production, customer, and supplier-related issues requiring cross-functional coordination and resolution.
- Act as a technical escalation point for MRB activities and ensure timely disposition, root cause identification, and systemic corrective actions.
Safety:
- Lead by example in promoting a proactive safety culture where safety is integrated into all engineering and operational decisions.
- Ensure all engineering designs, equipment, and processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and lead risk assessments (JHA, process hazard analysis) for new products, materials, and process changes.
- Partner with EHS to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve workplace safety performance.
- Drive improvements in ergonomics, equipment safeguarding, and safe handling of materials and chemicals.
- Ensure team accountability for safety compliance while encouraging proactive hazard identification and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of PCB processing and Design with experience in materials to support targeted market and new technologies.
- Knowledge of process/manufacturing engineering disciplines. Knowledge of fundamental design practices including: problem definition, concept selection, proof of concept, and implementation.
- Strong working knowledge of statistical tools including SPC, DOE, experiments for process improvements, and root cause analysis.
- Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts, problem solving skills, and creative solutions.
- Knowledge of facilities, fabrication materials and Industrial Engineering disciplines.
- Technical knowledge of sheet/foil materials and coating processes and equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer software, ppt, Excel, Word, manufacturing software, and project management.
- Prefer engineering degree in BSEE, BSME, BSIE, or equivalent degree from a four-year college or university.
- Prefer ten plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer supervisory experience. Requires strong project management and team building skills, and ability to establish priorities and work direction.
