Floyd Baker Dental in Gaffney, South Carolina is seeking a Dental Hygienist to help treat patients and promote good oral health practices. As a Dental Hygienist, you should be reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages. This position is 3 days a week with alternating days. New grads welcome to apply!
Responsibilities
- Patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review
of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental
charting and taking blood pressure and pulse
- Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the
teeth
- Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
- Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
- Counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health
- Making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by
dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs)
- Performing documentation and office management activities
Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
- Outstanding communication skills
- A patient and friendly personality
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene
- Valid license to practice
