Roman's, the celebrated, ingredient-driven neighborhood Italian restaurant in Fort Greene, is seeking a Maître d'. This is a part-time position (4-5 shifts/week) that requires weekend and nighttime availability.

Key responsibilities:

Ensure tables are properly set and configured for the correct number of guests prior to seating.

Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming entry area.
-
Greet guests warmly upon arrival, with particular attention to recognizing regulars and cultivating repeat guests.

Manage reservations, waitlist, table pacing, and guest notes through Resy.

Answer the phone, respond to reservation inquiries, and assist guests with booking modifications.

Monitor no-shows, late arrivals, and cancellations, escalating issues to managers when necessary.

Communicate accurate wait times and proactively manage guest expectations.

Maintain detailed guest profiles, VIP notes, dietary restrictions, and service preferences within Resy.

Communicate VIP guests and special occasions clearly to managers and servers throughout service.

Communicate table pacing, expected out-by times, and reservation timing updates clearly to managers and servers throughout service.

Collaborate with the managers on service pacing and seating strategy.

Assist with the sale of retail bread loaves to guests as needed.

Maintain familiarity with the restaurant’s menu, policies, and surrounding neighborhood, including nearby locations appropriate for guests waiting to be seated.
Successful candidates will:

Have 1+ years of hospitality experience and a desire to deepen one’s knowledge of hospitality on every level
