Position Title: KT Filter Plant Operator

Job Summary:
Control the process that brings water into the production process. Control the water treatment process that detoxifies and cleans the water before it is taken back through the production process and/or released back into the environment. Ensure that the production process is in compliance with environmental standards by taking samples, testing samples, and making necessary adjustments to water treatment. Sample, log, and report chemical and PH levels in water for state compliance and maintain designation by state as Operator in Responsible Charge.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Enter parameters into PLC to control water movement and treatment.
- Take water from river and channel into plant for product processing.
- Control PH level in water by adding lime and alum.
- Remove suspended solids from water by adding polymer in the vertical clarifier (E-CAT).
- Pull water samples and test for suspended solids, settled solids, fluorides, and PH levels. Document and maintain sample results DMR (Daily Monthly Report) log for state reporting.
- Maintain automatic sampler in spillway.
- Calibrate testing equipment.
- Must be willing to train lesser qualified employees.
Skill/knowledge Requirements:
- Communication skills required to coordinate with plant operators on production.
- Writing and reading skills required for inspection paperwork and safety procedures.
- Basic math skills required for testing.
- Must be able to quickly react to a noncompliant situation and coordinate an appropriate response with management and plant operators.
Required Activities:
Must be able to bend, stoop, and balance while lifting and/or holding 50 lbs. Requires climbing stairs and frequently standing and walking. Incumbent must be willing to be on call to respond to plant emergencies. Incumbent must also be willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
